Our current studies of John 15-18 and the Church are so closely intertwined that I am not exactly sure far enough ahead of time of where we are going to give you direction for advance study.  Once we steady out with a more normal routine, I'll start things up again.

Preparation for Wednesday February 3rd, 2016

We'll be in John 15: 15-17 this week--a short, passage, but some difficult things to come to grips with.  

1.  First, what do you think it means when Jesus says His disciples are His friends, and He has passed everything He learned from the Father on to them?  

   - Do you think this applies to anyone else outside of the 11 remaining Apostles?

   - We often, in humility, consider ourselves the servants of Christ--has this changed that?

2.  What do you think it means when it says that Jesus choose each apostle (inferring it is not the other way around)?

3.  Lastly, once again we have a promise to fulfill prayer--"whatever we ask".  Really?

Preparation for Wednesday January 20th, 2016

We are back in John 15 and the Upper Room Discourse.  

This week we are going to transition from "abiding in Christ" to "abiding in His love".    

1.  How do you think they are related? 

2.  Which one comes first?

3.  What is the definitive test for whether or not we love Christ? (You can find in the text of chapter 15.)

4.  Take a moment to think about this last question--How do you think thanksgiving is related to "abiding" and/or "obedience"?

There really is no preparation for this Wednesday, but I hope you will come to hear guest speaker Dr. Ingolf Wallow who will be introducing a series on ethics and apologetics.  I think you will find this to be very helpful in wrestling with some of life's thorny problems--both personally and in terms of ministering to others.
